My kids are heart broken about all the animals that have been affected by the wildfires in Australia. We know this is the fire season and that they are in a draught, but hearing about all the animals that have lost their lives is devastating. I didn’t know how to help, but came across this website that has lots of information and patterns that can easily be sewn.
There is also a Facebook group Animal Rescue Craft Guild Group. This group is updated daily with information on where to send, what they need and other ways to support this effort.
I am including images that I obtained from the Facebook group incase you don’t Facebook.
The rescue pouches sew up quickly, just make sure you use a French seam so there are no exposed seams and because it lasts longer and is more durable. You need to sew a liner and an outside pouch – this helps with cleaning.
When making the bat wraps be sure to use polyfil for the pillow and add enough so it feels like a firm teddy bear. I used the measurements of 10″ X wof (width of fabric) which was about 44″ they would take longer around 44-50″. They are ok if it is not exact in that way, however you need to make sure the seams are exact.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. I’d love to see your projects. Thank you for helping.
