Quilty Pleasure: Quilting with your Cricut Maker

Hello Friends! I am back at quilting again. I kind of go through stages, sewing clothes and quilting and doing crafts. Are you like that too? It was a quilting kind of day, so I got on Cricut Design Space to find a pattern. I like quick, pretty projects and design space is filled with so many.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

Let’s begin! Gather your materials and let’s get started:

Cricut Maker

12 X 24 Fabric Mats – I recommend having 2-3 of these, the cutting process will go much faster.

Fabric: I used a quilt kit from Riley Blake Designs

Quilt Pattern: I used this one in Design Space from Anna Griffin. She has another one that I really want to make called Spectrum Quilt

Sewing Machine

Thread

Cutting Mat and Rotary Cutter – I do love Cricut’s brand of both of these. They have really pretty mats to choose from and the rotary cutter has been super smooth and easy to work with.

Cutting The Fabric

Load your fabric on the pink fabric mat, I do recommend ironing first. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just quickly get some of the bigger creases out. Your Easy Press 2 is perfect for this.

After you have cut all the pieces out, begin sewing. I like to chain stitch, which just means you begin sewing two pieces together and once you are done, don’t lift the presser foot, just add the next two pieces and keep sewing until done.

I like to iron my seam apart after I am finished sewing two pieces together. Keep sewing until each square is complete. You can see the full details in the pattern on Circut’s Design Space. You can find it by searching in Sewing Projects and then Anna Griffin, Confetti Quilt

This quilt came together in one day and I still was able to get things done (mom jobs, like running kids to and fro, making dinner and hosting an activity with some 5th graders). I really love how quickly it came together and it looks so pretty. My girls are all fighting over who gets to keep it. Wahoo!

Whether you are a beginning quilter or an expert, using a Cricut Maker to help cut your fabric really does make the project go quickly and smoothly. I love using it to create beautiful projects and feel my need for crafting.
