Once they picked out their patterns they got busy measuring and planning. One trick these girls learned is…When you place your fabric on the cutting mat if you roll it up first then unroll as you place it, you will have perfectly smooth, perfectly placed fabric.
Look at that focus! Press and flatten, steam and flatten! Easy peasy with the EasyPress!
This is a fun step because you can press a large piece of material in a short amount of time. If you don’t have an easypress, you can use an iron. It was just so much faster with the EasyPress. When you take time to press before you cut it gives your finished product a more professional look.
Look! The project is taking shape! I love the patterns she chose. I especially love the perfectly cut pieces. I LOVE that they fit together with no fuss. The Circuit Maker definitely made this a snap. One thing to remember here is…When sewing keep all the seams going the same direction, that way when you are done your project will lay flat.
She’s putting the pieces together. She chose a totally different color palette. This easy project is a great example of throwing your own unique personality into the circuit maker project and create a beautiful, fun craft.
Here she is sewing away. I love that she is able to focus on and develop her sewing skills while she is having a blast.
Our favorite kind of learning: HANDS ON LEARNING!!
I am in love with these hot pads and these cute girls. They really loved this project and can’t wait for our next crafting day together. Personally, I can’t wait till my daughter gets grease and bits of food all over her hot pad. That will mean SHE is doing the cooking and I will be doing the eating.
What color and pattern combinations do you envision on your hot pads? Anything goes!!!
