Cricut vs. Cricut

You guys! I have been loving my Cricut Maker As you know, I love, love sewing. I am a busy mom with 5 kids so finding ways to maximize the little amount of time I have to craft is always great. My Cricut Maker is one of the ways that I can craft and sew in a short amount of time. You can knock out projects quickly and they look totally professional.

This experience is based strictly on my opinion.  Others may have a different opinion or experience with the product listed above.  I was provided the sample free of charge by the company or PR agency and I have given my honest opinion.

People, let’s talk…

Why do I love the Cricut Maker? How is it changing my crafting? Do you need one? Which one is right for you?

Why Do I Love My Cricut?

My love for the Cricut began with the very first one. I actually bought it on HSN in a bundle pack way back in the day. I slowly purchased cartridges over time. I originally bought it because I wanted to cut big letters for posters and to make signs. I loved that I could also cut tags, bags, boxes and more! It changed the way my scrapbook pages came together and made posters and signs look amazing. You were limited to the cartridges you had and a small 6″ x 12″ paper, card stock, etc.

Fast forward a few years and I got a Cricut Explore Air 2 & then the Cricut Maker. Let’s look at both of them:

Cricut Maker
  • Rotary Blade – cuts fabric like butter with precision cuts – AMAZING!
  • Simplicity patterns available to cut and sew together via Design Space
  • Knife Blade – can cut thicker materials – like wood
  • Automatically syncs the material with correct blade
  • Easy to Use
  • Blue Tooth
  • Cuts even materials

Cricut Explore Air 2
  • Blue tooth capabilities
  • Can cut fabric (backed with a stabilizer)
  • Has a slot for cartridges – so if you have an older machine you can still utilize them.
  • Three cute colors
  • Cuts, writes and scores 100s of materials
  • Fast, like 2X faster than the older models
  • Cuts vinyl iron on and vinyl
  • Has a handy dandy tool holder
How is the Cricut Maker Changing My Crafting

The Cricut Maker is changing the way I craft because I now have access to hundreds of sewing patterns. Cutting out a pattern and then applying it to the fabric and cutting again is time consuming and tedious. Now I go to Design Space, pick a pattern and hit the button that says create, viola! The Maker will cut and print sewing seam allowances in much less time. Now I can select my pattern and load the fabric and walk away – usually to chase a kid. Then you can go back and begin sewing. It’s fool proof. Even my kids can do it.

Do You Need a Machine in Your Life?

Yes. I am pretty sure you do. Which one? It really depends on what type of crafts you want to do. If you are a beginning sewist or would like to learn to sew, the Cricut Maker is a great place to start. The ease of putting projects together and the hundreds of materials you can cut make it a perfect option. It can do everything the Cricut Explore Air 2 can do and more. The Cricut Maker gives you so many options – you’ll be hard pressed to run out of things to try. It’s easy to use, my whole family has used it. It is changing the way I craft and it’s definitely making it more fun!
